Illustration Friday: Stitch

I knew what to draw the moment I saw this week's topic --My favourite stitched baby doll dress!

I heart stitches. Fell in love with this dress immediately at one of the boutiques in Penang Island and I just knew I had to buy it! I was told it came all the way from Japan. Undoubtedly, it has got to be my best 2007 buy :)

Check out the details of the stitches! -- I mean, my illustration. Not a bad idea at all to do some fashion illustrations of my own clothes.

Excessively Accessorised

Firstly, sorry to all for my loonnnggg absence! It's hard to summarise what I've been going through these few months, it's probably is a stumbling block that many artists would face at least once. All I want to say now is that I'm all good and fully energised for more illustrations! :)

For this week's Illustration Friday

I must admit I'm an accessories person. Not only do I feel half naked without accessories, I love layering one necklace over another -- Nevermind the burden on my neck! Not to mention most of my accessories are chunky ones :)

What I currently lack is probably some lovely vintage brooches. I've found these two which I really like -- look into my illustration. The one with an illustration on it is a cameo pin with one of my favourite illustrations, 'Greta and the Gramaphone' -- a wonderful production of Emily Martin. Check out Emily's online shop at Etsy, The Black Apple. Isn't her work lovely?? It's worth mentioning that Emily's items are sold of verryyy quickly so you really have to grab them while you see them!

The other brooch which caught my eye is this Grande Dame brooch handmade by a very talented Malaysian jewellery designer, Sze Yoong (I thought it is worth promoting another designer from my home country!). There are some really nice ones at Sze Yoong's online store, SzeAccessories.com.

Don't worry about excessively accesorised as you may be amazed by the wonders that they create on you. More is still more!

Illustration Friday: Signs

For this week's Illustration Friday

With more and more animal prints in the stores and on the runway, we wonder if these are signs of the animal prints making a fashion comeback?

Personally I'm not a fan of animal prints. Leopard prints are especially hard to pull off. Then again it's a debated style issue: Wear it just right, you look stylish and glamourous, too much of it and you'll end up looking cheap and tacky.

If you're ever getting a leopard printed top, pair it with this season's skinny jeans for a casual look and you'll never go wrong. Oh -- And make sure they are prints, not skin! As for me, a leopard printed tote or ballet flats would suffice :)

Well, not exactly.

Hide them only on the flabby days. Otherwise, flaunt them!
